On one hand, they act as a great vehicle for change, because they wield an incredible amount of influence, and fund a lot of great initiatives for disadvantaged communities. BUT, like you say, a lot of their positions are kind of performative. As soon as the bottom line is affected, ethical considerations go straight out the window.
